First Trust NASDAQ Clean Edge U.S. Liquid Series Index Fund – This exchange traded fund is based on an index compiled by Clean Edge Inc., a leading energy market research firm whose boilerplate is, “Helping Investors, Industry, and Society Understand and Profit from Clean Technology.” According to Clean Edge, its index is “designed to track the performance of companies that are primarily manufacturers, developers, distributors or installers of clean-energy technologies.” The index includes companies involved in wind, solar, biofuels, batteries for electrically-powered vehicles, and more. Clean Edge says its index differs from others because it targets pure-play companies. Like other self-described “clean” and “alternative” funds, this fund does not include oil and gas technology companies. |
