Toyota Motor Corp. –– This well-known Japanese automotive manufacturer is on the leading edge of a number of advanced energy technologies -- especially hybrid and hybrid electric vehicles -- the latter being dependent in part on lithium-ion battery development, which Toyota is also involved with. Relatedly, Toyota is working on flex-fuel vehicles (vehicles that run primarily on ethanol), fuel cell vehicles, and cleaner-running diesel engines. It’s also doing research in non-automotive areas such as solar power. |
